…having a great time in Nairobi, Kenia!
The great Tippa Irie and I are currently spending a week in Nairobi, spreading positive vibes for the MarchForthKenyaKids organisation. Visiting Reggae Clubs, doing appearances at the KBC radio station, going to school in the Maringo quarter (where we planted a couple of trees), visiting the Kibera slum and performing everywhere. The big show is on Easter Sunday at Jeevanjee Gardens. We are overwhelmed by the very warm welcome we are getting everywhere, and I never knew that literally e v e r y o n e in this city (including the little children in the streets) knows one of my songs and sings it to me… this is crazy! Asante Sana!

Supersonic Sound out of Berlin have released two new selections. Both riddims have been produced by Junior Blender and go by the name of “Ooh” and “Rudie”. Among many international artists like General Degree, Spruddy, Perfect, Bunji Garlin, Marlon Asher a.m.o., there is also a version to each from Dr. Ring Ding. In My Love Is Right on the Ooh, the Doc duets with himself (including a hommage to the great Gregory Isaacs), in My Roots and My Culture on the Rudie, he pays respect to his roots as a Ska musician. …unglaubliche Erlebnisse in Nairobi, Kenia!
Der großartige Tippa Irie und Ich verbringen gerade eine Woche in Nairobi, um positive Vibes für die March Forth Kenya Kids-Organisation auszusenden. Wir besuchen Reggae Clubs, machten Gastauftritte bei der KBC Radio Station, gingen ins Maringo-Viertel in die Schule (wo wir ein paar Bäumchen pflanzten), waren im Kibera Slum und brachten überall musikalische Einlagen. Die große Show ist am Ostersonntag in den Jeevanjee Gardens. Wir sind absolut überwältigt von der Herzlichkeit überall – und ich hätte nie gedacht, dass buchstäblich j e d e r hier in der Stadt (selbst die Straßenkinder) einen meiner Songs kennt und mir vorsingen kann… es ist unglaublich! …unglaubliche Erlebnisse in Nairobi, Kenia!
Der großartige Tippa Irie und Ich verbringen gerade eine Woche in Nairobi, um positive Vibes für die March Forth Kenya Kids-Organisation auszusenden. Wir besuchen Reggae Clubs, machten Gastauftritte bei der KBC Radio Station, gingen ins Maringo-Viertel in die Schule (wo wir ein paar Bäumchen pflanzten), waren im Kibera Slum und brachten überall musikalische Einlagen. Die große Show ist am Ostersonntag in den Jeevanjee Gardens. Wir sind absolut überwältigt von der Herzlichkeit überall – und ich hätte nie gedacht, dass buchstäblich j e d e r hier in der Stadt (selbst die Straßenkinder) einen meiner Songs kennt und mir vorsingen kann… es ist unglaublich! Asante Sana!

My Roots and My Culture!
Supersonic Sound aus Berlin haben zwei neue Selections rausgebracht.
Die beiden von Junior Blender produzierten Riddims hören auf die Namen “Ooh” und “Rudie” – und neben vielen internationalen Artists wie General Degree, Spruddy, Perfect, Bunji Garlin, Marlon Asher u.v.a. gibt es zu beiden Riddims auch jeweils eine Version von Dr. Ring Ding. In My Love Is Right auf dem Ooh singt der Doc im Duett mit sich selber (inklusive einer Hommage an den großen Gregory Isaacs), bei My Roots and My Culture auf dem Rudie zollt er seinen Wurzeln als Ska-Musiker Respekt.

Jazzkantine – Hell’s Kitchen
Dr. Ring Ding ist auf dem neuen Album der Jazzkantine “Hell‘s Kitchen” zu hören.
Klassiker aus Heavy Metal und Hardrock wurden in Swing, Smooth Jazz, Lounge und Latin Jazz umgewandelt. Unter den zahlreichen Gastsängern finden sich Xavier Naidoo, Max Mutzke, Pat Appleton, Tom Gäbel und Sam Leigh Brown wieder, und von Dr. Ring Ding gibt es eine entspannte Dub-Jazz Version von Van Halens “Ain‘t Talking ‘Bout Love”.
